a prestige vintage

For nearly two centuries, Joseph Perrier, founded in 1825 in Châlons-en-Champagne, has been producing champagnes marked by elegance and precision. True to our expertise, our house cultivates the art of time and patience, prioritizing quality and subtlety over immediate effects. Among our iconic cuvées, the Cuvée Joséphine a special place.

Created in 1982, it is the company's 11th creation and bears the name of Joseph Perrier's daughter, Stéphanie Joséphine, symbolizing family history and continuity.

A family historical foundation

The Cuvée Joséphine above all a family story. It pays tribute to Stéphanie Joséphine reflects the values of transmission and respect for time that have driven the House since its foundation. Each stage of its production, from the selection of grapes to the final blend, is designed to preserve the authenticity and natural balance of the wine.

This intimate connection with the history of the house gives Joséphine unique character: a refined, subtle champagne, capable of standing the test of time and seducing even the most demanding connoisseurs.

Blending: Premier Cru and Grand Cru

Cuvée Joséphine a vintage wine, produced only when the quality of the harvest allows it. The vintage currently available is 2014, made from a meticulous selection of grapes.

It is based on a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, grown on Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, carefully selected for their typical expression and complementarity:

  • Ambonnay
  • Sacy
  • Cumières
  • Bergères-lès-Vertus
  • Le Mesnil-sur-Oger

The 60% Chardonnay brings finesse, tension, and minerality, while the 40% Pinot Noir offers structure, depth, and aromatic complexity. The combination of these grape varieties and vintages creates a harmonious balance, where each aromatic note finds its place.

The dosage of 5 g/L highlights this harmony: just enough to balance the richness of the wine while preserving its freshness and purity.

Time: an essential ingredient in Cuvée Joséphine

One of the secrets of Cuvée Joséphine in its long aging on lees, which lasts nearly 10 years for the 2014 vintage. This patience allows the wine to develop a silky texture, more complex aromas, and fine bubbles.

Time also allows the wine to develop structure and depth, creating a subtle harmony between freshness and body. The measured dosage simply supports this balance, without altering the purity or character of the champagne.

Tasting notes: finesse and subtlety

To the eye, Cuvée Joséphine a bright golden color, enlivened by a fine, regular effervescence.

The nose is refined and delicate: white fruits, pear, apple, floral notes, gourmet touches such as almond, hazelnut, and a hint of brioche. The whole is harmonious, subtle, and inviting.

On the palate, the attack is precise and straightforward. The wine unfolds with balance and depth, offering a long, slightly salty finish that prolongs the pleasure and encourages rediscovery with each sip.

Gastronomy: a table champagne

The Cuvée Joséphine designed for fine dining. Its structure and balance make it an ideal companion for a refined meal:

  • Seafood and shellfish: Pan-fried scallops, sea bass, turbot
  • Poultry and delicate dishes: chicken, chicken breast with light sauces
  • Soft cheeses, served at the end of the meal

The combination of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, paired with a controlled dosage, allows the champagne to support the flavors without ever overpowering them, revealing the finesse and precision of each dish.

Storage potential

Cuvée Joséphine exceptional aging potential. When stored in good conditions, it gains complexity over time, developing notes of dried fruit, honey, and brioche, while retaining its tension and freshness.

Each year spent in the cellar reveals a new facet of the wine: when young, it impresses with its precision; after several years, it seduces with its richness and complexity.

Presentation and elegance

The bottle reflects the style of the House: sobriety, balance, and elegance. The gift boxes emphasize the prestige of the cuvée without ostentation. A magnum format is also available, allowing for even slower and more harmonious aging, ideal for special occasions.

The culmination of Joseph Perrier's style

The Cuvée Joséphine, the House's 11th opus, perfectly illustrates Joseph Perrier's expertise and philosophy:

  • Grapes from carefully selected Premier and Grand Cru vineyards
  • A harmonious blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir
  • Dosage of 5 g/L
  • Long aging on lees for complexity and finesse

Since its creation in 1982, this cuvée has embodied the elegance and depth of a great champagne. It reflects the soul of the House and its ability to combine tradition, precision, and emotion, offering enthusiasts a champagne capable of enhancing the most precious moments.
