First, step into the heart of our historic 4th-century champagne cellars, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, explore our archive room, steeped in history, where period artifacts are carefully preserved. During your tour of our Gallo-Roman champagne cellars, which stretch over five kilometers, you will also witness the ancestral expertise that still guides the production of our champagnes today. Carved directly into the rock, these underground galleries offer ideal aging conditions, ensuring the harmony and elegance of each cuvée. Between tradition and excellence, let yourself be transported on a sensory journey through a unique heritage, where every stone tells a story and every bottle embodies the excellence of our house. Thus, your visit to the champagne cellars will have allowed you to discover our historic sites, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Since 1825, the company's history has been perpetuated by six generations, each of whom shaped the company's destiny with their own personalities and commitment. Collaborating with Louis Pasteur, we contributed to the evolution of winemaking techniques. Renowned for the quality of its cuvées, the house had the honor of serving its champagne to the English court, under the reign of Queen Victoria. Today, our family history continues to inspire the creation of exceptional champagnes, aged in our historic cellars and appreciated the world over.
Our cuvées are meticulously crafted using the traditional Champagne method, combining expertise and passion. After the harvest, during which each grape is carefully selected, comes the pressing—a delicate process that allows the juice to be extracted with precision. The juice then undergoes a first fermentation, transforming the nectar into wine.
This is how the magic happens during the second fermentation in the bottle, when the much-sought-after bubbles and effervescence form. Afterward, our bottles rest for several years in our historic Gallo-Roman cellars, places steeped in history. Finally, the final stages of disgorging, dosing, and labeling reveal the full character and complexity of our champagnes.
At the end of your tour of the Champagne cellars, you’ll enjoy a wide selection of tastings featuring the house’s cuvées. For example, you can try the surprising “Mystery Experience in Champagne”: a fun and engaging activity where you’ll taste four iconic cuvées blind, putting your senses and curiosity to the test.
In addition, Joseph Perrier welcomes families and has created a special program for children. That’s why we offer a dedicated children’s program during family tours, concluding the visit with a tasting of single-varietal grape juice.
