Storing and serving Champagne according to Joseph Perrier's philosophy

At Champagne Joseph Perrier, Champagne is above all a wine of patience and balance. Each cuvée is designed to stand the test of time and reveal its full potential when tasted. Both its storage and serving contribute fully to respecting this intention.

Conservation: accompanying time, without constraining it

After transport, Champagne deserves a period of rest. This moment of tranquility allows the wine to regain its natural balance, the result of a long process in the cellar.
The storage area must be clean, well ventilated, protected from light and any unwanted odors, so as not to interfere with the wine's expression.

A constant, stable temperature between 10 and 15°C and controlled humidity between 60% and 80% are ideal conditions for storing champagne. These parameters are essential for preserving the freshness, finesse, and aromatic complexity of our cuvées.

Service: the right touch, in the service of wine

Serving Joseph Perrier Champagne is about precision rather than effect. The ideal serving temperature is between 46 and 46.4°F, at which point the balance between freshness, texture, and aromatic expression is fully revealed.

Cooling is done gently: in a bucket with water and ice for about 30 minutes, or slowly in the lower part of a refrigerator.

The opening follows a precise ritual, passed down from generation to generation. The bottle is wiped, presented, the cap removed, then the wire cage removed while holding the cork firmly in place. Tilted at an angle of between 30 and 45°, the bottle is turned delicately to release the cork without breaking it, with a discreet pop, respectful of the wine.

The service is carried out in two stages, with the glass already in place, in order to preserve the collar and the fineness of the bubble stream—signatures of a Champagne served with care.

Glassware: revealing the signature of the vintages

The glass is the showcase for Champagne. Joseph Perrier favors a slender, slightly curved glass, narrow at the top, allowing the wine to express the full precision of its aromas and the delicacy of its effervescence.

Proper care is essential to ensuring optimal tasting quality: wash with warm water, without detergent, and dry naturally or with a cotton cloth to guarantee consistent and elegant effervescence.

An opened bottle should ideally be resealed with a suitable airtight stopper. Empirical methods, such as placing a spoon in the neck of the bottle, do not preserve the effervescence or freshness of the wine.

Our e-shop offers Joseph Perrier Absolus 32cl or Lallement 43cl glasses for the perfect tasting experience.
